Meet Your Chapter Leader

Joe Irineo: New Jersey Volunteer

Joe Irineo

Lives in: Glen Rock, NJ

Major: Finance & Accounting

Industry: Financial Services – Institutional Equity Sales & Trading

Favorite BC Memory: Philippine Society of Boston College (PSBC) Annual Cultural Shows at Robsham

Why did you get involved in your local chapter?: My favorite motto from St. Ignatius of Loyola has always been to “Go Set the World Aflame.”  As such, staying connected to BC and supporting its many causes has become a passion of mine.  I love finding common ground with BC alums in the area because it allows us to collaborate and get together to support the university through fun and engaging activities whether it be game watches, community service or cocktail receptions with senior University officials.  There are so many BC alums and parents in the Northern NJ region, so I became more involved in the local chapter to help galvanize more events with like-minded alums who wanted to find a way to stay connected to the school that has given us so much.

What are your local favorites in your city?: Glen Rock is a great because it has such a small town feel an easy to feel connected through the community.  Some local favorites are definitely the Glen Rock Inn (which is where we will have many of our NJ game watches), John’s Boy Pizza (for a slice or three), Honey Day Café (for a great brunch) and Jalapenos (where people don’t realize how good the burger is!).  Close by, our family also loves to spend time at the Ridgewood Country Club which is where we hosted our first “Always an Eagle” cocktail reception with Fr. Casey Beaumier.

Fun Fact: I’m married to a fellow BC Eagle!  I met my wife, Charlene Biala Irineo ‘03, in Edmond’s Hall which no longer exists…
